Slipper Swap

The Mid and South Essex NHS team will be swapping slippers for older residents for a new pair of free NHS approved slippers.

Occupational Therapist, Sam from Reclaim Mobility, will be available throughout the Slipper Swap event to discuss how to prevent falls. With over 300 causes of falls, Sam will be on hand to discuss some of those risk factors with you and to answer your queries about how to maintain independence and prevent falls.

Sam’s role as an Occupational Therapist consists of providing support, advice and strategies on how to maintain a person’s quality of life and to how to maintain independence within the activities that are important to them.

These activities include (but are not exclusive to): bathing, toileting, cooking, gardening, getting dressed, mobilising, accessing the shops, getting in and out of a car, sleep etc.

Sam’s role can include providing advice on what equipment may be beneficial to someone, adaptation advice around the home to make it safer or strategies on how to manage energy levels and basic tasks and much much more.

So come along and talk to Sam about how to prevent falls and how to maintain your independence.
